National Armed Forces Day - 27th June 2009

A Celebration of Britains Armed Forces - Past, Present and Future

Blackpool invites you to the first National Armed Forces Day event.

On June 27th 2008 Blackpool was proud to be awarded the honour of hosting the Uk's National Veterans' Day event. The occasion was recognised as the finest celebration of National Veterans' Day to date, highlighted by the attendance of HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, the first time a member of the Royal Family has attended the national celebrations. It is estimated that some 40,000 veterans, members of the Armed Forces, visitors and local residents attended the nine days of celebrations.

‘Veterans Day' is to be nationally renamed ‘Armed Forces Day' in public recognition of HM Armed Forces, which includes the Veterans Community.

This year Blackpool will continue to take the leading role in celebrating our Armed Forces, Past Present and Future and is planning an exciting range of events (20-28 June). The events will epitomise the ethos of National Armed Forces Day (27 June ) and include Serving Military personnel, Veterans and the Youth of today.
